Tofino: Social Media Workshop

3989343718_e588943858.jpgIt doesn’t take much to get me to make the trip to Tofino. So when I got the call from the Tofino Long Beach Chamber of Commerce to come up and do an encore presentation of my Social Media Workshop (from August), I was only too happy.

It also gave me a chance to break in our new mini-van on the twisties, yeehaa…

And if that wasn’t enough, it just so happened that my buddy Renaat (Wannawafel) was up there chillin. So I took the opportunity to have Renaat join us to tell a bit of his “social media success story”. There’s nothing like a real life case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of social media.

As part of the presentation I did a demonstration showing how easy it is to create video content for your blog. The workshop attendees graciously agreed to be part of the demo – see below.

Using my handy FLIP HD video camera, we boiled it down to 5 simple steps:

  1. Shoot your video. Audio quality is key so don’t hold the camera too far away
  2. Using the USB download the video to your computer
  3. Using the software the comes with the FLIP, upload the video to your YouTube channel (you’ll need to create a channel if you don’t have one)
  4. Grab (copy) the “embed code” from the box just below your video on YouTube.
  5. Paste the embed code into your blog. Write some content around it, eh voila.

So if you scan vs. read that’s; shoot, download, upload, grab, paste, and you’re done…
